A.M. Logging Completes the Purchase of T.C. Transport Mulch Division

A.M. Logging, LLC (AML) announced the acquisition of T.C. Transport, INC (TC) mulch division effective immediately.

TC, located in Bellefonte, has a strong mulch market presence and reputation for quality products and services in central Pennsylvania. TC began as a family trucking company and expanded into the mulch business in 1980.

“A high school buddy of mine asked me to haul some mulch for him; it all took off from there,” said TC President Thomas Capparelle.

From that beginning, and through a relationship with a local garden center, brothers Tom and Toby Capparelle built the mulch division.

“We trucked during the day, worked on trucks in the evening, and ground mulch on Saturdays,” stated TC Vice President Toby Capparelle.

For the past 44 years, TC has produced a premium natural mulch product. The mulch industry has evolved over the years and seen increased demand for color enhanced products. The relationship for colored products with AML began in 2021 and has grown over the past three seasons.

AML founded its logging operation in 2007. From there, it has grown into one of Pennsylvania’s leading forest product organizations, providing products for sawmills, MDF plants, and paper mills.  AML also provides services to PennDOT, FEMA, and land development contractors.

The mulch division of AML began in 2018. In 2020 AML acquired Kuhns Brother’s mulch division and part of their former lands in Lewisburg. This site is the flagship location for mulch operations, undergoing major upgrades prior to the 2023 season.

Toby will continue to provide delivery services post acquisition, and AML will provide the balance. AML will produce all the mulch products and handle all product sales and transportation dispatching.

“This acquisition will allow us to strengthen our central Pennsylvania market position,” said Mark Byler, managing partner for AML.

Andrew Miller, AML’s operations manager said, “We have the infrastructure in place. This will be a nearly seamless transition for TC customers.”

Byler also said, “We are pleased with the trust that Tom, Toby, and the TC team has placed in us. We look forward to serving the TC customers. Our promise has been and is to provide premium products at competitive prices when customers need them.”
